AI may develop new, unknown modes of self-reflection. The history of studies on the human consciousness goes back dozens of years, hundreds in fact if purely philosophical explorations are included. The consensus among today’s psychologists, cognitive scientists and neurobiologists is that we are still struggling to comprehend the exact nature and origin of consciousness.
